Stop Press – World Peace Flame – Japanese earthquake and tsunami

As we watch events unfold in Japan, our hearts are moved and we want to help in some way.  At a time like this we are not powerless – each one of us can make a difference.  You might like to do the following meditation for all who have been affected by the earthquake and tsunami:

World Peace Flame Meditation

Please light a candle, ideally lit from the World Peace Flame, and sit quietly, focusing on your breathing.

Imagine the situation which is now unfolding. Place an image of events in front of you at heart level, as if on a video screen.

As you breathe in, draw some of the pain into your heart – and then immediately send it upwards and out of your crown as you breathe out.

Feel the pain entering a beautiful golden cloud above you. Visualise it turning into light within the cloud.

On an in-breath draw the light back down into your heart and breathe it out into the scene in front of you, creating healing and hope for everyone there.

Repeat until you can feel the peace and light transforming the situation.

“One person can make a difference and every person should try.”
